UK university offers Nigerians discount on tuition

A university located in the United KingdomDe Montfort has disclosed that it is offering Nigerians discount of £3,000 on its tuition in its undergraduate, Master’s and PhD programmes.
A lecturer in the School of Law, Dr. Ohio Omiunu, made this revelation, adding that the purpose of the discount was to make its programmes more affordable and to encourage more Nigerians to benefit from them.Speaking to journalists on last week Thursday, June 16, in Lagos, Omiunu said that the school had also made provision for Nigerian students to benefit from its global internship scheme.
He explained that the scheme, available to 30 Nigerians, was not only for them to earn cash while studying, but also for the beneficiaries to pick up transferable skills that would build their employability. He said, “We have the paid global intern scheme for Nigerians. We have 30 slots available for them this session, whereby once you are admitted and you are one of the 30, you are guaranteed a place where you can earn money and gain some knowledge.

“Once you have a conditional offer from us, the school will interview you over the phone, and if you are lucky, you get a slot. We have two other countries, Pakistan and India, benefiting from this apart from Nigeria.”

Omiunu stated that DMU has an exchange programme in progress, whereby students from Nigeria could exchange with their counterparts from DMU for about a semester or two, in addition to its distance learning programme. He noted that the partnership the school was seeking with Nigerian universities, which it already secured with some, was to explore avenues for transfer of knowledge and capacity building. He said the school had become the preferred choice for many Nigerians because of its ranking among other institutions.
