Unilag to conduct pre-admission screening

Candidates who made University of Lagos their first choice in the 2016 UTME and scored 200 and above are eligible for the screening.

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced that it had begun its online registration for the screening exercise for admission into the new session.

The screening exercise for the 2016/2017 academic session will begin on August 3, 2016 and will end on August 24.

According to a statement issued by the institution, candidates who chose UNILAG as their first choice, scored 200 in the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and have the relevant O Level results at one sitting can register for the screening.

Candidates who are less than 16 years of age have however, been directed not to register for the screening.

The statement reads: “Candidates who made University of Lagos their first choice in the 2016 UTME and scored 200 and above are eligible for the screening. In addition, candidates must possess five (5) credit passes at one sitting in relevant O/level subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

“Candidates, who will not be 16 years of age by October 31, 2016 are not eligible and need not apply.

“Candidates who are awaiting results are also eligible to apply for the screening. Such candidates will be allowed to upload their results when they are released only if they applied within the specified period. Candidates are advised to check the University website for the specified period.”

FUTA suspends four students involved in alleged N16m internet fraud

The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has indefinitely suspended four students of the institution, who were arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for the roles they played in an alleged N16 million Internet fraud. Out of the five suspected undergraduate scammers that were arrested, 4 are from (FUTA) while 1 is from Adekunle Ajashin University, Akungba. They allegedly swindled unsuspecting foreigners and others to the tune of N16M by engaging in fraudulent activities of obtaining money by false pretences through scam mails.


A statement released by the Head, Information and Protocol Unit of FUTA, Mr. Adegbenro Adebanjo, said the university’s vice chancellor approved the sanction based on the school rules, which stipulate indefinite suspension for students arrested and being investigated for allegation of criminal activities. Part of it read,

“The four students, who have been given indefinite suspension and are to stay away from the school until further notice, are Ogundile A.O , Civil & Environmental Engineering; Fasakin  P. T, Civil & Environmental Engineering; Akinsanmi F.O, Mathematical Sciences; and Ifeobu U. O. of the Department of Urban & Regional Planning. This is in accordance with the provisions of the university Handbook of Information 2012-2015 Page 54, paragraph 5(i) which states that, 'Whenever a student is being investigated for a criminal offence by the Police or is charged with a criminal offence; whether or not connected with the university; the student shall be suspended from his studentship until he/she is cleared of the allegation/charge'.”

THE CEO SYNOPSIS

TransWire Communications is a global phone network with major operation in Nigeria. The CEO, an expatriate, has retired hence the Global Chairman has decided to send five nominees amongst his most senior level staff across Africa on a Leadership course in order to determine which one to appoint as the new CEO of Nigeria.

All five arrive from their respective destinations and check into the beach resort where the course is holding. Although they all appear cordial and chummy with each other, they all know what is at stake – they each desperately want the CEO’s chair. No Nigerian University makes list of World's 1000 Top Universities

The Center for World University Ranking CWUR, has released its 2016 list of the top 1000 universities in the world. Sadly, no Nigerian university made the list. Only nine Universities in Africa made the list. Five from South Africa and four from Egypt. In 2015, no Nigerian University made the list. See the full list here http://cwur.org/2016.php

OAU Students Protest Against Univarsity Closure

"Governing Council has not been constituted at the moment and with feelers we are getting, if students don’t speak out, delay may make the close shut for longer."Students of the  Obafemi Awolowo University on Wednesday,  July 6, have expressed their displeasure about the closure of the institution.

The Association of Campus Journalists OAU, in a statement, urged the students to begin a social media protest.

The statement reads in part, “We have sampled Students opinion and we know Students want to resume.

“We are dedicated to being the masses voice objectively and to this end will not shy away from our duties.

“Governing Council has not been constituted at the moment and with feelers we are getting, if students don’t speak out, delay may make the close shut for longer.

“With the current pace of events, if Students do not voice out, the break still has long days ahead.

“Join us on Twitter and Facebook as we take over the Social media with #ReopenOAU.”

Several students, in reaction, took to the social media to join the campaign. They expressed their desire to return the school, with one saying, "5 months left in this year and we haven't even started 2015/2016 session."

This is following the Federal Government's decision to dissolve the school's government council.

The models filed out dramatic in casual trad designs from the brand complete with luggage sets and tassel slippers. The signature kaftan, loose tops, easy wear signature of the brand was presented in the collection for the modern man.

Asymmetric shirts, tops, stripped kaftans and pants and more were presented with exquisite details and unlike most bland black and white collections, Yomi Casual's wasn't in the least boring.

We officially announce that after 229 hours and 58 minutes of straight DJing, DJ Obi’s ten-day attempt has come to a close, due to medical advisement, at 1:28pmon Saturday, July 2nd.Thanks to the love and support of countless individuals, the news that DJ Obi, one of Nigeria’s most notable DJ’s, was making an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for Longest Marathon Club DJing spread like wildfire.

DJ Obi set out to smash the current 200-hour record with a 240-hour, ten-day set beginning at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22nd and ending at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 2nd, 2016.

We officially announce that after 229 hours and 58 minutes of straight DJing, DJ Obi’s ten-day attempt has come to a close, due to medical advisement, at 1:28pmon Saturday, July 2nd.

Tonight’s world record attempt party will continue as planned from 9pm. Celebrity friends and people who have supported DJ Obi throughout the past ten days will be in attendance as, Nigerian rapper, M.I. performs hosting duties.

While Obi rests, his team continues sustained work with the Guinness World Record’s office in order to ensure they have everything they need to verify DJ Obi as the official new holder of the title, Guinness World Record Breaker for Longest Marathon Club DJing!

Academic Achievement: Nigerian supermodel breaks record, graduates with 1st class at Cyprus University

She graduates with a First Class from a University in Europe.An ex- Miss Naija Delta contestant and Nigerian model, Blessing Pius has reportedly broken a record as she graduates with a First Class from a University in Europe.

According to LailasBlog, Pius graduated on July 1st from the European University of Lefke, North Cyprus with a High Honor (First Class) from the Department of Health Management.

In celebration, Pius shared a few photos from her graduation ceremony.
