The non-profit organisation, established in honour of the late Mr. Osaze Olugbemi Osifo, nurtures young African talents by providing financial support and mentorship to students across the world.Six students of the University of Lagos, who achieved First Class Honours were gifted with the sum of N160, 000 educational bursaries each, courtesy of the Osaze Osifo Educational Initiative (OOI).
According the DailyTrust, the six students are: Richard Chukkas-Prowess of the Department of Systems Engineering, Akindele Olaide of Psychology, Ismaila Mansur of Mass Communication while Fatimoju Adeshola, Isiaq Wasiu and Wahab Mustapha are from the Department of Economics.
UNILAG Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rahmon Ade Bello,
during the award presentation ceremony said that the value of the
mentorship programme was worth more than the bursary and millions of
naira.
The VC, and the director, Office of Advancement, Mrs. Ibironke Salaam praised the virtues of the late Osaze Osifo and appreciated his contributions to the development of the University of Lagos.
Osifo was one of the pioneer donors to the university’s Education Trust Fund.
A trustee of the OOI, Ms. Olushola Carrena, said the late Osifo did his best to impact on the lives of his mentees and colleagues, many of whom held him in high esteem.

a bid to support the pursuit of knowledge for undergraduates in
engineering and social science courses in the country, Osaze Osifo
Education Initiative, under the umbrella of Osaze Osifo Fellowship, in 2013 unveiled plans to offer an annual scholarship of up to N150,000 each to the top six performing students of the Faculties of Engineering and Social Sciences, UNILAG.
